At a press conference, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid declares, “One of the individuals in the caucus today talked about a major insurance company — a major insurance company — one with a name that everyone knows that’s on the verge of going bankrupt.” The result? The following day insurance stocks tank and Metlife issues a statement attempting to assure people that Reid was not talking about that company.
