you guys became the wealthiest nation because of self reliance and small government, not because of socialist policies. you guys have been downhill since the 60’s ”
brilliant, too bad most Americans can’t see it that way. We’ve become so reliant on the easy way out, that we’ve forgotten what sacrifices our elders made to get us here in the first place.
haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa who the hell is Rangel talking about, he doesnt pay any taxes of his own and now in hot water for going to the carribean on tax payers expense time to kick these bums out, left dems only want to destroy our great country
@angloempire well in this years elction we will chanbge all that, and obama will only see a 1 term pres, it is because the left progressives seeped into this govt, what we need to do is not vote these types in govt, stand firm on conservative values, this is why alot of european socialist countries want to come here to live and work cause of free-market interprises, we need to bring conservative princiles back into usa, obama wants to destroy it,
paul ryan for president 2012 very conservative principles, him and ron paul either one for pres, and v.p. this is what we need in our country no more liberals who want to spend, spend,.spend.
@colehankins we used to be but the liberals made sure of that and hispanic groups like la raza now going to the white house to allow more!! illegals in this country we dont stand a chance plus this govt, has h-1 b forieng work visa ppl. in here as well americans stand no chance, china is now far more wealthier then usa, were in debt with china, and yet obama admin, still spends printing money from machine that creates more debt.
you guys became the wealthiest nation because of self reliance and small government, not because of socialist policies. you guys have been downhill since the 60’s
Before we are the wealthiest nation in the world now we are known to be the over spending country. America owns china a large amount of dollars why because of our president earmarks spending.
Wait, you just presented a very flawed premise… you are comparing the experience of you and your family with the whole system in America. It would be more accurate to compare the whole of Canada’s system with the whole of America. And, while we’re at it, why don’t you pay attention to what I said regarding SPECIALIST care vs critical care.
By the tone of your reply, I’m guessing the family to which you refer has had the good fortune of not experiencing a brain cancer.
the simple question to ask canadians is, would you be willing to trade your healthcare system for US system? more than 9 out of 10 wouldn’t. the problem with basing opinion on seeing a few canadians come her for treatment is that it is not representative of all canadians. A real simple clue about how they feel is that they voted the person who developed their healthcare system ‘person of the century’.
Of course you can find instances where people didn’t get timely treatment. But I’ve been in the country for more than 25 years and neither myself my family or my friends have ever run into a major problem.
Can you say that in America? Instead of spending all this debate criticizing other countries health care and the merits of government run insurance wouldn’t it be better to try and come up with a way to fix the system?
I’m glad your brother got treatment and hope that he’s doing well, but that doesn’t surprise me, either. The issue has never been about critical care but about instances where, for example, a person needs to see a specialist for something that is not immediately life-threatening but definitely life-threatening, eg certain cancers, etc.
My brother had a heart attack followed by a stroke. He was airlifted to Toronto, had around the clock care including 1 nurse assigned specifically to him. He had 2 brain surgeries followed by the installation of a pacemaker. Then he had months of rehabilitation. Total cost zero!
Is the Canadian system perfect? Of course not and I’m sure you can find instances when people didn’t get the care they were hoping for, or had to go on a waiting list.
But no one who needs care gets turned away!

As Stossel reported… Your pets can get better / quicker treatment in Canada than Canadians themselves. Why? Because the Vet system is privately run and healthcare is poorly run by the central Gov’t without competition.
The 10th A repeats the idea that the rights not specifically granted to the Gvt belong to the people.
From my point of view the 10th A means what the supreme court interprets in every specific caseand comparing US vs. Butler with this Health reform is just ridiculous…
I think even when we might see things in different ways an educated debate is always the way to go. Thank you too.
I’m sorry, I’m used to getting straight answers instead of a beating-around-the-bush answer. The answer provided in this post is a more direct answer, and now I know that you believe that the 10th amendment means nothing. There’s no point in debating anymore since the basis of my point of view was that Universal Health Care is unconstitutional. I will commend you for being civil though, it is rare to talk with a liberal without them turning into a raging blur of insults. So thank you.
I answered your question MANY TIMES but you just cannot get it.
An yes the 10th A. is somehow objected for not adding anything new to the constitution. You can research about it.
You guys have a lot of examples,ie the ban on tobacco, Why those poor corporations are suffering such a huge damage; is that constitutional??? Yes of course; they are KILLING PEOPLE.
Our Health system is something similar it is terrible expensive and is not affordable for all the Americans. The bill WILL BE Constitutional….

Rangel sounds like Jabba the Hut.
I don’t think he’s been smoking stogies, I think he’s been gargling with them.

we are not the wealthiest country in the world

Healthcare – We are the wealthiest nation in the world and we don’t take care of our own.
Dont spend trillions of dollars in Wars!

My brother was 73!
No person is turned away here. If your borther was 20 years older…good luck with getting that same care.
So who paid the bill?
My brother had a heart attack followed by a stroke. He was airlifted to Toronto, had around the clock care including 1 nurse assigned specifically to him. He had 2 brain surgeries followed by the installation of a pacemaker. Then he had months of rehabilitation. Total cost zero!

Yes that’s true I see the line of Canadians coming to get 1st class medical treatment in the States. My God the things I have to read.
